Brian Noble, who has been , external was at Friday's 14-10 defeat by St Helens as a guest of Reds owner Dr Marwan Koukash.

"The decision is out of my hands," Hunte told 91热爆 Radio Manchester.

"When I stepped in, they said that I was in the running, so I guess I'm on interview day in and day out. But I'm not worrying about it.

"Myself and 'Longy' [assistant coach Sean Long] will be preparing, as we always do, for the next game and that's all we can do."

Hunte has stated that he would like to be considered for the job on a permanent basis.

The Reds were unable to end a winless run at St Helens that stretches back to January 1980 but came close to a surprise victory at Langtree Park.

"It's frustrating for all of us at the club that our performances haven't been to that standard week in and week out," added Hunte.

"We've got to try and make sure the lads gain a bit of faith from that and take it into the next game. Unfortunately it's against [leaders] Huddersfield so it doesn't get any easier."
