Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has confirmed he wants to keep Brett Finch at the club after his match-winning display against St Helens.

The Australian half-back scored a decisive second-half try in the 18-4 win that booked Wigan's place in the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup.

Wane told 91热爆 Radio Manchester: "Brett is a good player and he's been consistently really good for us.

"If we can keep him next year, that would be superb."

He continued: "We've got half of the season left, we've got some big games coming up and, whatever happens next year, I can deal with next year."

Finch, stood in as captain earlier this season while regular skipper Sean O'Loughlin recovered from injury.

Wigan will play Leeds Rhinos in the last four of the Challenge Cup after the Warriors came through a tough encounter against their local rivals.

The Warriors' entire starting forward pack on Saturday consisted of local talent, something Wane said he was extremely proud of.

"Not enough is said about what is done in the background at this club," added Wane.

"It means everything to me because I want local kids and people that have come through our system with all those tough characteristics I want them to have. That's what we've got with this starting pack."

Wigan, currently top of Super League, take on second-placed Huddersfield in a top-of-the-table clash at the Galpharm Stadium on Friday evening.
