Belfast Giants regrouped from Saturday's 4-1 defeat by Fife to beat Edinburgh Capitals by the same scoreline in Sunday's Elite League/Challenge Cup clash.

Will Corbert's early Giants goal was cancelled out by a Curtis Leinweber strike but Scott Champagne restored Belfast's lead in the first period.

Further goals from Darryl Lloyd and Noah Clarke completed Belfast's win.

Craig Peacock needed 29 stitches in a face gash after Saturday's defeat.

Peacock suffered a nasty cut above his lip although he later tweeted that he was "OK".

"Thanks for the messages.. Doc did a great job," added the Giants player, who suffered the injury after a clash which sent Fife's Bobby Chaumont over the boards.

Peacock had put the champions ahead in the 13th minute of Saturday's game but the lead lasted just 55 seconds with Casey Haines equalising for the hosts.

Jason Pitton made it 2-1 after 27 minutes and he added two more goals in the third period to seal the points for Fife.

As a result of the cut, Peacock joined Andrew Fournier and Robby Sandrock in being ruled out of Sunday's clash at the Murrayfield Ice Rink.

However, the Giants produced an impressive display on Sunday with Jeff Mason making a crucial block near the end of the first period to keep Belfast 2-1 in front.

Giants keeper Stephen Murphy also made a series of tremendous saves in the match.
