Forest running out of time in frustrating striker search
- Published
The last week of August was always going to be a transfer crescendo after a quiet summer following the Copa America and European Championships.
It means a slow start to the window and clubs have been braced for the pace increasing in the second half of the month.
Forest are no different and are still trying to sign a new striker before Friday's transfer deadline.
So far it has been frustrating, despite initial positive talks over Eddie Nketiah the club were the ones to back away from deal when it hit a snag, while their attempts to land Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord have failed.
Links to Ajax's Brian Brobbey have emerged but with just over 72 hours of the window left, time is running out.
Chris Woods' 14 goals in 20 Premier League starts last season was an excellent return but he needs sufficient support.
Jota Silva naturally needs times after his move from Vitoria Guimaraes and Ramon Sosa will hopefully provide the ammunition.
Taiwo Awoniyi, who scored eight times, needs to prove his fitness while Morgan Gibbs-White will expect more than the five goals he netted in the top flight last season.
