Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance says his side can learn from their 6-3 defeat at unbeaten league leaders Farnham Town.

The Green Lions led their big-spending Isthmian League South Central leaders 2-1 for a spell in the first half before being pegged back to 2-2 after the break.

Farnham - who have won all eight of their games this season after promotion last term - asserted their authority after the break as Guernsey slipped back into the relegation places.

"They're too good for this league - I think they've got five players on loan from the National League, so they shouldn't be in this league to be honest," Vance told 91Èȱ¬ Radio Guernsey.

"We were always going to be up against it, but what I wanted to do was see if we could play under pressure, see if we could kick on with our plan.

"Rather than just go backs to the wall, try and concentrate on your on your assets and what you're trying to achieve under pressure.

"First half there were times where we had them a little bit rattled, but it was never going to be enough to win the game.

"That's probably the frustration for me and the disappointment for me because they're probably too good - we had some good moments, but also some moments that we need to learn from."

Having gone a goal down after nine minutes, Jacques Cauvain's 32nd-minute free-kick drew Guernsey level after a goalkeeping error while Ben Acey put the islanders ahead two minutes later.

But Owen Dean's penalty made it 2-2 at the break before the hosts scored four times without reply in the second half.

Charlton Gauvain scored a stoppage time penalty to reduce the deficit as Guernsey dropped to 20th in the table.

"They are a good team, but there are opportunities to beat them and that's the bit where we had a 10 to 15 minute spell where we showed that," added Vance.

"It needed to be more and at half-time we went back in with a poor penalty - we gave them too many goals and you can't do that against anyone, let alone a good team."
