Walsall manager Mat Sadler has confirmed Brandon Comley will miss the start of the season after the midfielder fractured his leg.
The 28-year-old suffered the injury to his fibula bone in the 3-0 preseason defeat by Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Sadler confirmed no surgery was required but that the player will be out for two months.
He told 91热爆 Radio WM: "I'm gutted. Fortunately, it isn't a load-bearing bone. There's no surgery needed. It just needs to knit back together; you're talking six to eight weeks until he's back playing.
"At least some of that is taken up by preseason games. That is the positive. Brandon will come back fitter and stronger."
Walsall begin their League Two campaign at home to Morecambe on August 10.
