Reading boss Ruben Selles says he has "had enough" of the club's lengthy takeover saga after an attempted deal by American lawyer and businessman Rob Couhig fell though.

Prior to negotiations ending, Couhig had posted on social media photos of him

Selles has been in charge of the Royals since July 2023 and throughout that time has battled with points deductions, mass fan protests and club fines.

"I have had enough of this situation now," Selles told 91热爆 Radio Berkshire.

"All the bad situations that can happen in football have happened to me in the last 16 months.

"I have a fantastic group of players that have been fighting against those situations but it gets to a point where you cannot anymore, you are repeating the things in the cycle.

"I鈥檓 not a person that likes to quit but I do need to reflect on where could be the ending point because I鈥檓 not happy with everything that鈥檚 happened."

The Reading boss said Couhig himself called to let him know the deal to buy the club was off.

Couhig had a long period of exclusivity with the League One club's current owner Dai Yongge, but was unable to finalise an agreement.

A Reading statement released on Wednesday said "alternative options" would now be pursued and Yongge remained "committed to selling the club".

"I don鈥檛 know what is true and what is not now," Selles added.

"I just saw that we were able to maybe have a different future but now we are starting over again.

"It will take at least a few months to get something else done now, because we were in a period of exclusivity for five months and nothing happened."

Reading are currently 12th in League One after five games, following two wins, two defeats and a draw.

They travel to face Bolton, who sit 21st, at the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Saturday.
