Manager Erol Bulut says Cardiff City are “close” to signing two new players in the next few days.

Speaking at the club training camp in Austria, Bulut said: “We have had contacts with a few players and have been negotiating with them.

“Now we are closer with a few players and I am thinking at the end of this week we are going to sign two or three players.”

So far this window, Cardiff have recruited former Queens Park Rangers winger Chris Willock and ex-Aston Villa defender Calum Chambers.

Bulut is known to be looking for further reinforcements to his front line and in midfield.

Manchester City midfielder Alex Robertson is on the club's radar after a successful loan at promoted League One club Portsmouth last season.

The Championship outfit have also been linked with Leicester City forward Kasey McAteer.

“Not only those two players, we have a few players on our list," said Bulut.

“It is not easy to get those quality players. Sometimes you want players and some small issues come in you have to handle that. For sure they would be a good get in our system and for the team.

“But they are not the only two names on our list we have a few others on our list. We cannot only focus on special names.”

Cardiff have made “tentative” enquiries about striker Jay Stansfield at Fulham. He scored 12 league goals on loan at Championship outfit Birmingham City last season.

But Bulut said: “I can also tell you about 10 other names.

“Sometimes I am reading in the press, Kieffer Moore - maybe they don’t know he has already left [to join Sheffield United from Bournemouth].

“Let’s see what we can do and what is best for Cardiff City and our squad.

"Everything is about the finance, we have to take care about that side also. We will not waste money for nothing. We will try to make the best for Cardiff City.”

Cardiff will complete their pre-season trip to Austria on Thursday when they face Bundesliga 2 winners Hertha Berlin at the Koasastadion St. Johann in Tirol.
