Portsmouth have signed Reading's Tom McIntyre for an undisclosed fee.
The Royals defender was out of contract at the end of the season and the League One crisis club have decided to cash in for a fee reported to be about 拢75,000.
The 25-year-old has agreed a two-and-half-year deal at Fratton Park, with a club option for an additional year.
Blues boss : "Tom has the attributes to complement the players we already have at the club.
"He has a huge amount of Championship experience. He has also captained Reading on numerous occasions.
"As well as being comfortable on the ball, Tom is also an excellent and aggressive defender, so we're delighted to add him to our ranks."
In a farewell message to fans on social media he said: "Playing for Reading has been a privilege and a dream come true.
"Nothing will beat hearing your name being sung by the very fans you used to sit with."
After a 'very frustrating few months' during which Reading have been beset by off-field problems as owner Dai Yongge seeks to sell the club as well as dropping into the League One relegation zone, McIntyre said: "I never imagined it ending this way.
"While my time as a player may have come to an end, I go back to being a fan who hopes the issues at the club can be resolved and it can get back to being the club that we all fell in love with."
