Paul Warne says his League One manager of the month award is "an honour" for his entire Derby County side.

The Rams collected 13 points from a possible 15 in December to strengthen their promotion hopes, leading to 50-year-old Warne picking up the award.

Victory at Fleetwood last week moved Derby equal on points with third placed Peterborough, and to within two points of the automatic promotion spots.

"It's an award for the team, really," he told 91热爆 Radio Derby.

"It's the fact it's called manager of the month that makes it a bit strange. It's just [about] how the lads have performed.

"They haven't got a clue what I've been doing - I could have spent the past six weeks chilling my bones doing nothing.

"The team have been playing really well and been getting good results and we have been on the good end of a few moments in games."

In contrast, January has so far produced just one win from three games in all competitions.

Late goals against Peterborough saw them suffer their first defeat in 10 league games on 1 January, and they were beaten again at home by League Two Bradford to be knocked out of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy earlier this week.

The Rams next host neighbours Burton Albion in the league on Monday.
