Wales Women's manager Jayne Ludlow says she now has a team she can "build with" after their 4-0 qualifying win over Kazakhstan.

Helen Ward's hat-trick helped Wales claim a first win of their Euro 2017 qualifying campaign at Haverfordwest.

Ludlow's side had lost their opening two qualifiers but are now third in Group 8.

"We are now getting a group together that we are going to build with," Ludlow said.

"The environment they have as a team, the football they can play as individuals and collectively will mean hopefully more results like this in the future.

"I think the performance the girls put on typifies how hard they have been working and typifies the group itself."

The victory saw Wales leapfrog Kazakhstan and Israel.

Wales had lost 3-0 away to Austria in their opening fixture before a 4-0 defeat by Norway in October.

Natasha Harding headed Wales in front five minutes after the break and Ward then scored twice in two minutes, before sliding in for her third in the closing stages.

Ludlow praised Reading's Ward, who had started the game on the bench.

"Helen's a proven goalscorer and I went with the decision first half for certain reasons," Ludlow said.

"But as a coach you love it when players come off the bench and they prove a point and I absolutely love her for it.

"She's a goalscorer and she took her chances and all the group are glad she did. It was a great performance for 45 minutes."
