League One side Oldham Athletic have appointed caretaker boss David Dunn as their manager on a permanent basis.

The 35-year-old, who joined Oldham as a player in July, takes over following Darren Kelly's departure last month.

The Latics have drawn all four of their games since former Blackburn and Birmingham midfielder Dunn took charge.

"The way he has approached the role has made it impossible for us not to give him his chance," Oldham chairman Simon Corney told

"We believe his ambition, skills and positive influence will be pivotal to the club's progression."

Oldham's wait for a win

Oldham have drawn more games in League One (8) than any other team, but have won just once in all competitions.

Former Sunderland coach Kelly was dismissed after just four months as Oldham manager following a 5-1 defeat by Peterborough which left the club 19th in the table.

The Latics are on a 10-match winless run in all competitions stretching back to a victory over fellow strugglers Fleetwood on 15 August, but have climbed to 18th in League One under Dunn's leadership.

Dunn featured in eight games as a player this season before being named interim manager, having previously made over 400 career appearances in spells with Blackburn and Birmingham.
