Leicester City have signed ex-Germany defender Robert Huth from Stoke for an undisclosed fee, on a three-year deal.

The 30-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with the Foxes, helping the club secure Premier League survival in his 14 appearances.

The centre-back started his career at Chelsea before moving to Middlesbrough and spent six seasons at Stoke.

Huth is the club's second summer signing after the arrival of Austria defender Christian Fuchs.

Leicester were bottom of the table when Huth joined in February, but won seven out of their last nine games to maintain their top-flight status, with Huth scoring in the 3-2 victory over West Brom in April.

During his time with the Potters scoring 18 goals.

He initially moved to Britain from his native Germany in 2001 when then Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri brought the player to Stamford Bridge.

He spent four-and-a-half years with the Blues before and has been capped 19 times by his country, with his last appearance coming in 2009.
