Swansea City have recalled forward Modou Barrow from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest following Wayne Routledge's season-ending injury and Jefferson Montero's hamstring concern.

Routledge has had ankle surgery, while fellow winger Montero was taken off in the 3-2 win at Newcastle as a "precaution", says manager Garry Monk.

Barrow, 22, joined Forest in March.

"We're down to the bare bones as it is so we can't afford any more injuries," said Monk.

"He [Montero] could have carried on but there was slight tightness so we didn't want to risk him."

Montero, 25, has been hampered by a number of hamstring issues this season.

The Ecuadorian international could feature again soon, but the campaign is over for Routledge.

The 30-year-old has undergone an operation to cure a long-standing ankle injury.

Barrow made four appearances for Championship side Forest during his loan spell, having played nine games for Swansea prior to his move.

The 22-year-old Gambia-born winger joined the Swans from Swedish club Ostersunds in September 2014.

Swansea broke their Premier League points record with Saturday's 3-2 win at Newcastle.

Their tally of 50 points leaves them eighth in the table with four games left against Stoke, Arsenal, Manchester City and Crystal Palace.
