Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Gary Warren faces a second successive year of cup final misery.

The 30-year-old missed last season's Scottish League Cup final defeat by Aberdeen through suspension.

And he will be unavailable to play in this year's Scottish Cup final after picking up a yellow card - his second of the tournament - against Celtic.

Caley Thistle will take on Falkirk at Hampden Park on 30 May after beating Celtic 3-2 after extra time.

Warren was booked after 16 minutes after hauling down winger James Forrest outside the Caley Thistle penalty box.

There was confusion immediately after the final whistle about whether or not that was his second caution of the competition.

However, it has been confirmed that Warren picked up a booking for disputing Partick Thistle's goal in Caley Thistle's 2-1 fifth-round win at Firhill.

Manager John Hughes told 91热爆 Scotland: "That's a terrible rule.

"Imagine denying a guy a chance to play in a cup final when he might never get that opportunity again."

Warren's fellow Englishman, Ross Draper, escaped a second yellow card of the tournament after a heavy tackle on Scott Brown.

The Celtic captain was sandwiched between Draper and Nick Ross, but the substitute midfielder was the one booked by referee Steven McLean.
