Newport County boss Justin Edinburgh has ended speculation over his future after agreeing a contract extension until 2017, 91热爆 Wales Sport learns.

The 45-year-old had been linked with a move to League One side Gillingham after they sacked Peter Taylor.

He led County to promotion from the Conference in 2013 and has seen his team climb to fifth place in League Two.

The former Tottenham full-back's previous deal ran until 2016.

Edinburgh had reiterated on Wednesday that he had not been approached by relegation-threatened Gillingham: "There's nothing to rule out."

He continued: "I've been connected with them. The club have had no contact, nor have I, so I don't expect there's anything I can rule out if there's nothing to rule out."

Outgoing County chief executive Dave Boddy also recently said he was confident Edinburgh would stay.

The Exiles' next League Two game is away to Northampton Town on Saturday, 24 January.
