Wigan striker Oriol Riera has completed a loan move to Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna until the end of the season.

Riera, 28, has scored just one goal in 13 appearances since joining from Osasuna on a three-year deal in June.

He has featured just once as a substitute since new manager Malky Mackay took over.

"The reality is that we need to trim the squad and this loan will allow Oriol the opportunity to play more regularly,"

"We wish him success back in Spain and will reassess his situation in the summer."
