Wolves have confirmed Dave Edwards has suffered medial knee ligament damage but are expecting him to be out for "weeks rather than months."

The 28-year-old midfielder was hurt during the first half of Tuesday's 2-1 defeat at Ipswich in the Championship.

Former Shrewsbury and Luton man Edwards has been left out of Chris Coleman's Wales squad for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Belgium on 16 November.

He will also definitely miss Saturday's trip to Derby County.

Speaking immediately after the Ipswich defeat, Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett told 91热爆 WM 95.6: "The tackle has taken him right out unfortunately. Hopefully it's not too long but any knee ligament injury isn't a good one.

"Generally our good performances and our good games have coincided with him having a strong run, and obviously he will be missed."

Edwards has scored twice in 16 outings for Wanderers this season, mainly operating in an advanced position behind lone striker Nouha Dicko, who is also set to miss the game at Derby with a hamstring problem.

Edwards was recalled to the national side for October's Euro 2016 qualifiers against Bosnia-Hercegovina and Cyprus and won his 27th cap as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 win against Cyprus in Cardiff.
