Havant & Waterlooville 0-3 Preston North End

Callum Robinson's hat-trick saw Preston North End past Havant & Waterlooville to an FA Cup second-round meeting with either Walsall or Shrewsbury Town.

Robinson finished with a low right-foot shot inside the near post and doubled his tally with a neat right-foot volley from 10 yards out.

He got his third from the penalty spot after Warren Cummings handled his shot on the goalline.

Cummings was sent off, as was team-mate Brian Stock, who was booked twice.

Conference South side Havant - 75 places below their League One opponents in the football pyramid - reached the fourth round in 2008, when before going down 5-2 to Liverpool.

That was the only time the club had progressed past the first round in six previous appearances and the likelihood of improving that record decreased when striker Robinson - on loan at Preston from Aston Villa - opened the scoring.

Finding freedom down the left side from Paul Huntington's through ball, he beat Havant goalkeeper Ryan Young at the near post.

Paul Gallagher's pinpoint cross from the right found Robinson inside the penalty box for his second goal, a volley into the bottom left-hand corner flashed past Young.

JJ Hooper and Ben Dutton had the best chances to reduce the deficit before half-time as first Preston defender Scott Wiseman cleared off the line and then Dutton's header bounced off the top of the crossbar.

Havant midfielder Stock was sent off just before the hour mark, picking up a second yellow for a foul for a foul on Alan Browne, with Cummings then dismissed for blocking Robinson's shot on the goalline with his left hand.

The striker stepped up to duly convert the penalty and ensure he walked away with the match ball.
