Vale have won three and drawn two of their seven league games since Page took interim charge

Port Vale have confirmed the appointment of interim boss Rob Page as the League One club's new manager.

Page was given six weeks by Vale owner Norman Smurthwaite to prove himself when he took over in the wake of Micky Adams' resignation on 18 September.

And improved Vale have now lost just twice in seven League One games, rising from 23rd to 16th in the table.

The 40-year-old former Wales centre-half will remain in charge until at least the end of the current season.

"I am really pleased," said Page, who first joined Vale as youth coach in 2011. "This is a proud moment.

Page gets the Adams seal of approval

Rob Page's appointment has been backed by his predecessor as Vale boss, Adams. "He deserves his opportunity," Adams told 91热爆 Radio Stoke. "He's embraced the job and will make his own stamp on the team".

"The difference in the approach to games, especially at home, is there for everyone to see and long may it continue."

Smurthwaite added: "Having stepped up under difficult circumstances, I am pleased with the way Rob has implemented an attractive style of play and turned around the club's home form.

"Rob has stepped up to the mark and hopefully our form will continue to go from strength to strength under his leadership.

"It has been a difficult few months but I believe this signals the start of a new era at the club and that this is the best possible outcome for the fans, players and staff."
