Gary Johnson: Yeovil Town manager urges fans to be patient

Yeovil manager Gary Johnson has urged fans to "see the bigger picture" after their poor start to the season.

The Glovers' time in the Championship lasted only a year before their relegation in May and they are currently in the League One drop zone.

Saturday's 4-1 defeat by Port Vale was their third consecutive loss and some supporters were calling for a change in management at the club.

Johnson told 91热爆 Points West: "It hurts but it's part of the job."

He continued: "It happened the year we got promoted when we lost six on the trot, before then winning eight on the trot.

"Hopefully those same people enjoyed their Wembley day, the Championship, Yeovil's promotions over the last 10 years as well as the FA Trophy win.

"Give it a chance. We're all disappointed with Saturday, I understand that, but let's see the bigger picture as well."

Johnson is in his second spell at Huish Park, having previously taken the club from non-league to League One before leaving to join Bristol City in 2005.

On his return to Yeovil in January 2012, he helped them avoid relegation from the third tier and took them up to the Championship the following year, with a play-off victory at Wembley against Brentford.

But they finished bottom of the table last season and have only won three times since August.

"The Championship was fantastic for Yeovil and a great achievement. We'll always have that as a memory and as a target," said Johnson.

"Because people enjoyed it so much, they were hoping we would get back there straight away. But we had to bring in a new group and it hasn't quite gelled yet.

"The important thing is that everyone is going in the same direction. We've all got to put it right.

"Because it was so poor on Saturday, it's going to be the hardest one to turn around, but we will. We've done it on numerous occasions."
