New Palace boss Neil Warnock has said he wants to assess Williams before deciding on his short-term future

Ipswich Town defender Jonathan Parr would happily persuade former team-mate Jonny Williams to return to Portman Road if the midfielder were available.

Williams, 20, had a successful loan spell at Town last season, but has featured four times for Palace so far this term.

"I will absolutely try and push him in the right direction if that were the case," Parr told 91热爆 Radio Suffolk.

"But at the moment he's doing well at Crystal Palace."

Ipswich are yet to lose in Parr's four games for the club

Norway international Parr spent three years at Selhurst Park with Welshman Williams, but joined Ipswich in the summer on a two-year deal.

Williams played 13 times for Town at the back end of last season, almost helping Mick McCarthy's side snatch a Championship play-off spot.

And, while he has featured four times for Palace this term, his two Premier League appearances have come from the bench.

"I've been speaking to him. I see he's been playing a bit for Palace though," said 25-year-old Parr.

"He's a great guy and a great footballer. He knows he is more than welcome here if he would like to go on loan.

"If he's in and around the team there that's good for him. If it was up to me we'd get him here."

A groin injury in August meant Parr had to wait for his Ipswich debut, but he has now made four appearances, scoring once, and also hopes to add to his nine international caps.

"I've been involved with the national team the last four or five years," said the full-back.

"But I've never really had the chance to play in the first 11, with John Arne Riise playing there for a long time. It's one of my goals to play for my national team. It's a great honour."
