Swansea full-back Neil Taylor has hailed Ecuadorian winger Jefferson Montero as "a breath of fresh air".

Montero gave full-back Tony Hibbert a torrid time in Swansea's 3-0 Capital One Cup win over Everton and set up his side's first goal.

The 24-year-old joined from Mexican club Monarcas Morelia after representing his country at the 2014 World Cup.

"I certainly couldn't say I'd like playing against him," Taylor said.

"He's got flair and he plays with freedom and he doesn't think too much which is great.

"He's got a lot to learn, but when he plays in a game like that he can be a nightmare for a right back.

"Jeff is a breath of fresh air for the fans."

Goals from Nathan Dyer, Gylfi Sigurdsson and substitute Marvin Emnes saw the Welsh side record their first victory over the Toffees.

The Swans will travel to Everton's Merseyside rivals Liverpool in the fourth round, a side they beat at the same stage two years ago.

Swansea beat Bradford City 5-0 to win the Capital One Cup in 2013, although Taylor missed the final because of a serious ankle injury suffered earlier that season.

Wales defender Taylor says an extended run in the competition would help the club, who have no European commitments this season.

"It's great for us to be in it because other players get a chance," Taylor added.

"We don't play as many games this year as we did last year.

"We're into the last 16 so it's a chance now.

"People are dropping out as you go along so we'll look and see who we get in the draw.

"While we're in it you've got to be in it to win it."
