Gillingham 2-0 Crewe Alexandra

  • Published

Crewe remain bottom of League One and the only team without a point following a fifth straight defeat at Gillingham.

Bradley Dack's curler found the top corner to open the scoring for the Gills, who had dominated early on.

That lead was doubled on the stroke of half-time when Cody McDonald's effort looped off goalkeeper Ben Garratt into the back of the net.

Jermaine McGlashan hit the post in stoppage time for Crewe but the hosts hung on for a comfortable victory.

The win moves the Gills up to mid-table while Crewe already look in trouble at the bottom.

Gillingham boss Peter Taylor told 91热爆 Radio Kent:

"I was pleased with the first half, we played some good football, created some decent chances. Second half I think we had to be professional as we knew Crewe were going to come out and do a bit better.

"I'm pleased we've played the different formations because I think now players will be ready to adjust.

"To get seven points from five games, I'm quite happy with that but there's still areas I know we can improve on."
