Midfielder Craig Bryson has signed a new five-year deal with Derby County.

The Rams rejected an offer from Burnley last month, while the Scotland international, 27, was also linked with a possible move to Queens Park Rangers.

Bryson, who was just 12 months into his previous three-year deal, scored 16 goals in 49 appearances last term.

"He was an integral part of what we achieved last season and he will be a vital member of the side in the future," said Rams boss Steve McClaren.

"At the end of last season I sat down with our president and chief executive, Sam Rush, and asked him to do his best to retain the core members of the squad, and I am delighted that has been the case."

Bryson has played 134 matches and found the net 27 times since arriving at the iPro Stadium from Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock in 2011.

He is the fifth player to extend his stay at the East Midlands club, with England Under-21 international midfielder Will Hughes, Republic of Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick and defenders Craig Forsyth and Jake Buxton all re-committing.
