Kilmarnock: Boss Allan Johnston focussed on last two games

  • Published

Allan Johnston says he is not worried about his future, despite his Kilmarnock side's 5-0 defeat by Hearts.

Killie remain in the Premiership relegation play-off spot after a Ryan Stevenson hat-trick, and goals from Billy King and Callum Paterson sealed a 5-0 win for the hosts.

"I don't worry about my situation, I just want to make sure the players pull together," said Johnston.

"If you're going to put in performances like that you've got no chance."

Some visiting fans unfurled a banner demanding Johnston's sacking, and he offered no excuses for his side's display.

With only two games left this season, and the club's annual general meeting on Monday, the Rugby Park manager is hoping for an immediate reaction when his side face St Mirren at home on Wednesday night.

"No, it (the banner) doesn't help me, you can see why, though," Johnston told 91热爆 Radio Scotland.

"I wouldn't be happy with that, it was a poor performance, but we've got to stick together now more than ever to make sure we get through the next couple of games,"

"It's embarrassing getting beat 5-0. It's not good enough. We came here the last time and we won 4-0, so it's not as if they're better players than us. They had that wee extra spark and extra desire to win, which is unacceptable in the position we are in.

"It's me that picks the team so it's my responsibility. We've got to make sure we bounce back from this. There's got to be a response, you can't get beat 5-0 and not have a response.

"We've got to make sure we get the heads up, there's no point dwelling on it too much.

"It is by far [the worst Kilmarnock have played all season], but a lot of credit to Hearts as well. They were fantastic, they've been playing like that in recent weeks and it just shows the difference a wee bit of confidence makes."
