MK Dons 0-0 Preston North End

  • Published

Daniel Powell spurned two clear opportunities as MK Dons were held to a goalless draw with Preston.

Ben Reeves set Powell up early, but Lilywhites goalkeeper Declan Rudd was equal to the winger's timid shot.

Preston's Joe Garner had a header saved before the break and Keith Keane hit the post for the visitors after meeting a Scott Laird cross in the second half.

While Powell did well to beat Rudd to a long ball forward, Jack King managed to head his effort off the goalline.

"I though we had the best two chances. Powell's in the first half was gilt-edged, a really poor finish and then second half, he took his chance really early and he could have brought it closer to the goal.

"To lose Samir [Carruthers] so soon with a knee problem and then lose Lee Hodson at half-time was a big blow.

"We're a skeleton squad. I have nothing left at the club, so I'm really proud of the players, I really am. I can't ask for any more.

"We just had to try and pull something out of the bag with the players that I had available.

"It was a really hard-fought point and I'm proud of them."

Preston manager Simon Grayson told 91热爆 Radio Lancashire:

"I can't fault the players for their effort, how hard they worked and how disciplined they were.

"It was just that when we got into that final 25 yards, we didn't have the composure, the quality or the end product to break them down.

"It's been a slight problem we've had. We've created a lot of chances over the past few weeks in games and we've not managed to finish teams off when we've had opportunities."
