Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup is confident his side can avoid being dragged into the battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

They have only picked up three points from their last six games and lie 13th.

The Swans lost 3-2 to Manchester City on New Year's Day and their next two league matches are against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

"As I long as I can see that there's a lot of confidence in the team… then I'm not worried," said Laudrup.

"I have a lot of respect for the numbers and it could be moments when we are just a few points away from that bottom three.

"We just have to pick up points and especially when we [face teams in the bottom half].

"We know there are some difficult games coming up but if we do play as we have done in recent games we will pick up the points."

Swansea have not won since their 3-0 victory over Newcastle United in early December and are now only four points clear of the bottom three.

After playing seven games in 24 days, Laudrup hopes the Swans will benefit from a less congested January and February.

Their Europa League campaign does not get under way until 20 February when they take on Napoli.

Before that they play league games against Fulham, West Ham United, Cardiff City and Stoke City.

"Not playing every three or four days it is a little different," said Laudrup.

"We have [an FA Cup] game [against Manchester United] on Sunday, depending on what happens there we will only play once a week… at least until the end of February."

Laudrup may be without Pablo Hernandez for a couple of weeks, however, after the Spanish winger limped off against Manchester City with a hamstring injury.

Hernandez is unlikely to be fit for Swansea's FA Cup third round visit to Manchester United on Sunday.

Dane Laudrup confirmed he will be looking to add to his squad in the January transfer window.

"We will look and we are looking," he said.
