Dagenham & Redbridge manager Wayne Burnett has backed his players bounce back from their Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat against Peterborough.

The Daggers lost their last league match at Hartlepool and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Bristol City.

"It is three defeats on the trot now and it shows me the character of the players and tells me a lot about them," Burnett told 91热爆 London 94.9.

"If we play like that I think we might win more games than we lose."

He added: "We have been beaten before, come back and been on a run so why can't we go on a run now?"

Dagenham lost 1-0 at London Road on Tuesday following Britt Assombalonga's second-half strike for Posh.

"I thought it was a tight game where no-one really got the upper hand," Burnett said.

"They played a strong team and I felt we more than matched them.

"It was one mistake from Brian Saah, who has been fantastic for me all season. He has put his hand up - he is that type of character."

Dagenham have only scored once in their last three games and Burnett insists there is room for improvement.

"Against Peterborough we had maybe three chances, but you have to take them when you are playing against teams of that calibre," he said.

"We were under a bit of pressure but we moved the ball quite nicely at times.

"I wouldn't say I'm delighted with the performance as you can always do better and I am a hard task-master.

"Our cutting edge and goal threat was not as much as I would have liked but we are getting there.

"We have now got one thing to concentrate on - the league."
