Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has reassured fans he intends staying at the club for the foreseeable future.

Mackay guided Cardiff to a 1-0 win over rivals Swansea last Sunday but question marks remained about his immediate future.

The victory came after Mackay's trusted ally and head of recruitment Iain Moody left the club on 11 October.

Asked whether he was staying, Mackay said: "Absolutely, it's what I have signed and it's my job."

"I'm very proud of being manager here.

"We have worked hard as a staff for two and a half years now to take our thoughts and our beliefs forward, mould that squad to where we are now.

"We want to make sure that is the best going forward for Cardiff."

But Mackay refused to talk about his relationship with club owner Vincent Tan.

The Malaysian businessman replaced Moody as head of recruitment with Alisher Apsalyamov, the 23-year-old Kazakh who was at the club on work experience.

Apsalyamov has since stepped aside temporarily from his role over a visa issue.

On his relationship with Tan, Mackay said: "That's something between me and him.

"That's not something for the public to know. That's a private relationship between myself and all member of the executive above me."
