Notts County manager Chris Kiwomya says the Magpies can remedy their poor league start if they can reproduce the performance that forced their League Cup tie at Liverpool into extra-time.

The Meadow Lane club have only picked up one point from their opening four League One games this term.

"They need to take this form into our next game against Rotherham," Kiwomya told 91热爆 Radio Nottingham.

"The energy and creativity that they showed to come back was magnificent."

And as happened Kiwomya said the trip to Anfield forced the best out of his team.

At 2-0 down before the half-hour mark, the Magpies boss admits he feared his side were in for a heavy loss.

But two second half goals from Yoann Arquin and Adam Coombes took the game to extra-time, before Daniel Sturridge added his second for the night and Jordan Henderson struck to seal a hardfought win for the Reds.

"As we did against Galatasaray, we showed energy to close them down, a want to win, a will to fight," Kiwomya said.

"Everyone played their part out there, even the subs. I thought Jamal Campbell-Ryce worked extremely hard because we came here and knew the attacking players had to defend - he did that well."

Kiwomya hopes the display will also spark renewed interest from fans after a crowd of less than 4,000 watched as they were beaten 1-0 by Stevenage at Meadow Lane last week.

"I'd like to see the fans come down to County and get behind us like that," Kiwomya said.

"We will try and entertain and build a team here."
