Brentford maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a narrow win over Walsall at a soaked Griffin Park.

Clayton Donaldson glanced home Shaleum Logan's right-wing cross just before the break in a game marred by a suspected broken leg to the Bees' on-loan Everton striker Conor McAleney.

Walsall keeper Richard O'Donnell kept his side in it with a string of saves.

The visitors' best chances fell to Craig Westcarr and Milan Lalkovic but both fired straight at the goalkeeper.

Brentford boss Uwe Rosler on home win against Walsall

"There's not many teams coming here playing like Walsall. They played some very good stuff without really making our keeper work.

"We had many chances to kill the game off and we didn't do that. In the end it was all about the defending, and in the last 10 minutes defending the lead and doing the right things to get the three points.

"All credit to my players. I know that we can play better but they really dug in, and I said, that I would be more delighted over those three points after the game against Sheffield United."
