Wayne Hennessey: Wolves keeper's injury halts Yeovil loan

Wayne Hennessey's loan from Wolves to Yeovil is on hold after the Wales goalkeeper tweaked a hamstring.

The 26-year-old has not played a senior game since April 2012 after continuous cruciate ligament problems.

He returned to action for Wolves during pre-season and was set to link up with Yeovil on a month-long deal on his return from international duty.

But the deal is now off after Hennessey limped off in the warm-up in Wales' 0-0 draw with the Republic of Ireland.

Yeovil were forced to look for another keeper after first-choice Marek Stech broke his hand during Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Birmingham.

Goalkeeping coach Gareth Stewart, 33, is used as the Glovers' regular back-up to Stech and played for 82 minutes against the Blues.

But manager Gary Johnson revealed on Thursday they were already closing in on a new loan target after Hennessey's deal was called off.

Meanwhile, the Glovers have completed the signing of midfielder Joe Ralls on a five-month loan deal from Cardiff City.

The 19-year-old has played 20 games for the Premier League newcomers since joining them from Aldershot in 2010.
