Shrewsbury's Darren Jones hopes he has finally got a stable central-defensive partner in Tamika Mkandawire.

Jones has started all three of Town's games this season, having capitalised on an injury to Dave Winfield.

"I'm sorry for Dave, but I'm enjoying life playing alongside Tamika - Tam's experienced, he knows what he's doing," Jones told 91热爆 Radio Shropshire.

"I hope we can stay together for a while - last season I seemed to have lots of different partners."

Last campaign, Jones was paired with Jermaine Grandison and loanees Michael Hector, Lee Collins and Rob Edwards in the centre of defence, before a dislocated shoulder in March curtailed his season.

The 29-year-old was expected to be out for much of this campaign as well, but has returned to be part of boss Graham Turner's opening fixtures of the season.

"I'm delighted to be back - I'm about three months ahead of schedule because originally they said I'd be out for six months," he said.

"But I was back training at the end of two and a half, so I'm really pleased with the rehab."
