Wrexham boss Andy Morrell wary of wounded Halifax

Player-manager Andy Morrell has warned Wrexham not to underestimate Halifax Town when they travel to face them in the Conference Premier on Tuesday.

Wrexham started their league season with a 2-1 win over newly-promoted Welling United at the weekend.

In contrast, Halifax had two men sent off as they were thumped 5-1 at Cambridge United.

"I watched the game but you can't take too much out of it when they're down to nine men after 20 minutes," he said.

"They've got threats, they've got some good players and are on a bit of a high after coming up [from the Conference North last season].

"Obviously they got a bit of a drubbing [against Cambridge] but there's a reason for it, so we're expecting another tough game similar to the one Welling gave us at the weekend.

"It's the first home game so I'm sure they'll be bang up for it and they've got good size, good mobility up top."

Striker Brett Ormerod, who has a broken bone in his hand, will miss the trip to Halifax, while Bradley Reid will have a fitness test on his ankle injury ahead of the game.

Meanwhile, Morrell is delighted that Cameroon-born defender Junior N'Tame, 28, has signed on a six-month contract, but admits he is in the dark on how long international clearance might take.

Wrexham are also hopeful of signing former Bristol Rovers striker Joe Anyinsah and plan further talks with the 28-year-old on Wednesday.

"We had to move a couple of bits, obviously Kyle [Parle] has gone out on loan to Bangor, which freed up a little bit of money to mess with and that was the difference," Morrell said.

"So I'm pleased, he could be absolutely anything, Junior. He's strong, quick, a bit different to what we've got, so hopefully he'll come in and learn quickly the way we play.

"Then hopefully we'll be able to get another one [player] in the middle of the week... but again we're waiting on international clearance."
