David Jones: Charlie Austin loss must lead to Burnley goal spread

David Jones says the onus is on everyone in the Burnley squad to contribute goals following the departure of Charlie Austin to QPR.

Striker Austin, 24, completed a move to Loftus Road two days before the start of the Championship campaign.

So far, four different players have found the net for Burnley this season.

"It's really good to share it out. With Charlie leaving, we're going to have to get a lot more goals throughout the team," Jones told 91热爆 Radio Lancashire.

Austin was one of the most prolific forwards in English football last season, scoring 28 times for Burnley in all competitions.

While he was marking his first start for QPR with a goal in Rangers' win at Exeter on Tuesday, his former employers were making light work of League Two outfit York.

Midfielder Jones, a , external following his release by Wigan, netted his first goal for the Clarets in a 4-0 win at Bootham Crescent.

"It's always nice to get goals and I want to get goals from midfield this season," he added.

"It's a good little confidence booster for myself to get off the mark and hopefully I can continue that throughout the season."

Striker Danny Ings has scored in each of the club's first two matches, with Burnley's disputed goal in the 1-1 opening-day draw against Bolton eventually

Jones, winger Junior Stanislas and midfielder Scott Arfield have also been on target for Sean Dyche's side.
