Former Linfield striker Gary Browne signs for Coleraine

Coleraine have announced the signing of striker Gary Browne who was released by Linfield at the end of the season.

Browne, who failed to secure a regular starting place at Windsor after his 2011 move from Lisburn Distillery, has signed a two-year contract.

The 30-year-old was with Glentoran before joining Distillery.

"Gary is looking forward to a fresh start and to playing regularly after a bit of a frustrating time at Linfield," said Coleraine manager Oran Kearney.

"He is a great all-round striker with a great first touch and is equally adept at playing in a front two or as a lone striker.

"I had been keen to bring in another striker for a while and Gary fits the bill, having a lot of experience in the Irish League."

Browne made 27 appearances for Linfield last season, 15 of them as a substitute.

He becomes Kearney's third close-season signing, following the arrival at the Showgrounds of goalkeeper Wayne Drummond and former Linfield defender Steven Douglas.
