Port Vale manager Micky Adams says he will only wait so long for his out-of-contract players to make up their minds over new deals.

Promotion-winning Vale boss Adams has offered new contracts to 10 of his players whose current deals expire on 30 June.

"I don't want another summer like last year," Adams told 91热爆 Radio Stoke.

"I would hope they want to stay. But, if they don't sign, then we move on. There's an open market out there."

But Adams admits that his frustration with the indecision of the players who won him his fourth promotion as a manager is a small stumbling block compared to the confusion still caused by being in administration a year ago - prior to Paul Wildes' autumn takeover at Vale Park.

"Three days before pre-season I was away on holiday screaming down the phone at somebody that we didn't have any training kit," said Adams.

"Then a week before the season kicks off we did not have players registered.

"We've been through the mill at this football club and I've been at the forefront of it. There have been difficult times.

"To achieve what we've achieved this season has been unbelievable, a minor miracle.

"I wouldn't say winning promotion gets better as you get older, but maybe you appreciate them more the older you get.

"It's been hard at times. There were times when people have tried to derail us and I haven't allowed it. But I always believed in the group of players I put together.

"And, when the doubters and cynics were having a pop, we stuck our chests out and had a go

"Sometimes it has been hard convincing them that we were good enough. But it's a 10-month marathon and you can't always perform at your best.

"We had to grind out results at times, but that speaks volumes for the players.

"And, when we needed them, the fans were there. In the dark days of administration and when we weren't getting results, the majority stuck with us and got us through."
