Midfielder Dean Marney has signed a new two-year contract with Burnley.

The 29-year-old joined the Clarets from Hull City in 2010 and has scored three times in 40 games this season.

However, the futures of five other first-team players approaching the end of their deals with the Championship club are still to be resolved.

Goalkeepers Lee Grant and Brian Jensen, defender Michael Duff, midfielder Chris McCann and striker Martin Paterson are all out of contract this summer.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche told the "We are absolutely delighted that Dean has signed an extended deal and it is another piece in the planning and preparation going forwards.

"People will be aware we are having to be prudent with our finances, but we also want to remain competitive and keep progressing the club.

"Dean has quite clearly shown that he wants to be competitive with us. His commitment is another sign that players want to be at Burnley and take us on this journey."

Burnley guaranteed Championship survival on Saturday with a 2-1 win at Wolves.
