Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out signing David Beckham after allowing the former England captain to train with his team.
Beckham, 37, is without a club after leaving Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of the Major League Soccer season.
Wenger said the former Manchester United midfielder phoned to ask if he could train with Arsenal to keep fit.
"There's no speculation about signing or anything," Wenger said when asked if he might sign Beckham.
"He has not done anything for a long, long time. He has asked to come here and to work on his fitness."
Beckham has not played since the beginning of December when he helped LA Galaxy retain the MLS Cup with a 3-1 win over Houston Dynamo.
He was linked with moves to Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco, but insisted after the match that he had "no idea" where he would be playing next.
Beckham won 115 England caps, his final appearance coming against Belarus in a World Cup qualifier in October 2009.
