  • Published

League One strugglers Bury beat second-placed Doncaster Rovers to claim their first win in 13 matches.

Chris Brown, David Syers and Rob Jones all went close for the visitors, before Andy Bishop's glancing header from Nicky Ajose's cross put Bury ahead.

Joe Skarz's inswinging corner sailed over the head of Rovers goalkeeper Gary Woods and off the far post to Ajose, who applied the final touch.

James Coppinger and Jamie McCombe missed chances to close the deficit.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Bury manager Kevin Blackwell told 91热爆 Radio Manchester:

"Doncaster are second in the table so we knew it was going to be tough.

"Slowly, we're trying to piece a team together. Until we came out of the transfer embargo, we couldn't really change it around.

"The lads, up to that point, have given us anything. We're a much harder team to beat than we were and we've just got to keep going."

Doncaster Rovers manager Brian Flynn tells 91热爆 Radio Sheffield:

Doncaster Rover's boss Brian Flynn calls for clinical finishing

"I don't like the taste of defeat and I know it won't happen many times between now and the end of the season.

"I've had a good start [as manager of Doncaster] and I know for a fact looking at the second half there was a positive reaction to the events of the first half.

"We're going to have to finish better between now and the end of the season.

"We're going to have to be more clinical, more cool and we will be."
