Former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan will be confirmed as the new Scotland boss within the next 48 hours after winning the race to succeed Craig Levein. The 55-year-old has been the bookmakers' favourite ever since Levein was axed last November.

And Strachan is expected to appoint his former team-mate Gary McAllister as assistant, with long-term colleague Garry Pendrey also targeted for a coaching role in the national set-up.
