St Johnstone have confirmed that striker Steven MacLean will be out for six weeks with a dislocated elbow.

The 30-year-old sustained the injury during the 3-1 win against Dundee on 29 September, a match in which he scored.

MacLean, who has netted three times in four appearances for the Perth side, is contracted at McDiarmid Park until late January.

Saints are already without midfielders Paddy Cregg and Jamie Adams as well as experienced defender Callum Davidson.

"The elbow has been encased in plaster since last week and the hopes were that a three-week absence might be on the cards which, with the international break, would mean a minimal loss of games," St Johnstone said of MacLean's injury.

"However, a further planned consultation has brought the news that the absence will be longer than hoped."
