West Brom had to come from a goal down to see off a determined Yeovil in the second round of the League Cup.

The Baggies fell behind to a header from former striker Reuben Reid but a Chris Brunt 30-yarder levelled it.

Shane Long pounced on a mistake by keeper Marek Stech to give West Brom the lead only for Reid to nod in again to equalise for the League One outfit.

Yassine El Ghanassy's shot deflected in off team-mate Craig Dawson and Long's second sealed a Baggies win.

West Brom boss Steve Clarke was Liverpool assistant when they won this competition last season but his new charges had their work cut out to make the third round.

Clarke had made 10 changes from the weekend's draw at Tottenham in the Premier League, with Long the only one to keep his place.

The visitors took a while to settle and, after James Hayter's effort for Yeovil was only kept out by the woodwork, Reid took advantage of some poor marking to glance in for the home side.

The goal seemed to wake Albion up and they equalised through Brunt's left-footed piledriver, which gave Stech no chance.

But the Yeovil keeper was at fault when the visitors took the lead as his error allowed Long to strike from close range.

But Yeovil refused to be disheartened and, at a vociferous Huish Park, Reid latched on to a Sam Foley cross to head the Glovers level again.

The Baggies upped their game, but there was a touch of fortune as they took the lead when El Ghanassy's strike hit Dawson to give Stech no chance.

Long's left-footed shot after 82 minutes saw the Baggies safely into the third round.

Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson told 91热爆 Somerset:

Johnson rues poor Yeovil finish

"We're going to come up against better sides in League One, so this was a little test.

"It doesn't hurt to mention the things we haven't done so well. The subs weren't effective and when I make substitutions I want them to look like they've got the real will to win.

"But they're only young and hopefully they've learned a big lesson today.

"Some came through fantastically, but four or five didn't and they're the ones we need to drag up to the level so we can keep ourselves at the top of the league where we want to be."
