He and fellow 21-year-old Francesco Stella, a striker released by Siena, impressed in a closed-door friendly.

Celeste was with Boca Juniors, while Argiriou, 24, has left AEK Athens.

Argiriou joined AEK from Greek Superleague rivals Panthrakikos in 2010 having previously had a trial with Blackburn Rovers but was released this summer.

Stella was deemed surplus to requirements by Serie A outfit Siena two years after the Australian joined from South Melbourne.

Brazilian midfielder Andre Moritz had a short trial with Rangers, but the 26-year-old old most recently with Turkish club Mersin Idmanyurdu without having won a contract and hoped to have trials with clubs in England.

McCoist said of Faure: "He has shown up really well in training and we would be hopeful of maybe getting a deal done there.

"Sebastien played in a practice game on Wednesday and came through it well, so we are hoping there's a deal to be done there."

Emilson Cribari, previously of Cruzeiro, is poised to make his Rangers debut against East Stirlingshire in the Ibrox club's first home game in Division Three.

Veteran Brazilian defender had been awaiting international clearance and has been unable to take part in any matches until now.

United States midfielder Maurice Edu will again not be included after indicating his desire to quit the club.

However, McCoist said: "The door is still open for Maurice. I've said to him that, just because there are one or two clubs interested in him, he shouldn't feel the door is shut here.

"If he doesn't go, I'll be delighted to keep him here."
