Watford boss Gianfranco Zola has backed Czech striker Matej Vydra to make a big impression at Vicarage Road.

The 20-year-old arrived on loan from Serie A side Udinese last month and scored twice in a 3-0 pre-season win over Gillingham earlier this week.

Vydra has represented the Czech Republic at every level from Under-16 through to Under-21.

"He gave me good sensations - he can become a very important player for us," Zola told 91热爆 Three Counties Radio.

"He hasn't trained very much with us but he's catching up very quickly.

"He had an operation on his left leg so for precautionary reasons we kept him apart [from the squad] for a while."

Vydra is one of six players on season-long loans at Watford from either Udinese or Granada, the two other clubs also owned by the Pozzo family.

"Everybody has made an impression on me and that will be very important for the future of the club," said Zola.
