Watford boss Gianfranco Zola insists he is in no hurry to add to his squad despite praising two triallists after their first pre-season friendly.

Czech international Daniel Pudil, 26, and Almen Abdi, 25, who has six caps for Switzerland, both played in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Boreham Wood.

"Abdi we have only had for two days but you can see he's a good player," said the new Hornets' boss.

"Pudil has done well, he showed good qualities, so that is encouraging."

Midfielders Pudil and Abdi play for Granada and Udinese respectively - the two other clubs owned by the Pozzo family, who recently took over Watford.

However Zola kept his cards close to his chest regarding the possibility of one or both joining the Hornets, either permanently or on loan.

"There is a lot of talking but right now my focus is on the players I've got, I need to see them and assess them and learn from them," Zola told 91Èȱ¬ Three Counties Radio.

"The club is very ambitious and there might be the possibility that some players will be coming, but we'll see what we've got first and then we'll try to improve our situation."

Pudil's compatriot Matej Vydra, 20, is also on trial with Watford, but did not feature against Boreham Wood.
