Burnley's outgoing chairman Barry Kilby has said the club have not received any bids for star striker Jay Rodriguez.

Manager Eddie Howe admitted in April that he expected sizeable offers for the 22-year-old, who scored 21 goals for the Clarets last season.

But Kilby told 91热爆 Radio Lancashire: "Nobody has contacted us.

"What happens at this time of year, in my experience, is that agents plant things in newspapers. Nobody's been onto us officially."

Kilby added: "Jay is still here as a Burnley player and, until somebody contacts us, we can't react."

Newcastle and Cardiff are among the clubs that have been linked with a move for Rodriguez, who was named in the Championship team of the year by the Professional Footballers Association last month after a prolific season for Burnley.

But for a 25-minute substitute appearance against Bristol City on the final day of the campaign, he missed the last month of the season with a groin problem.

Kilby is stepping down after nearly 14 years as chairman at Turf Moor after being diagnosed with cancer in February.
