Wrexham player-manager Andy Morrell does not believe speculation regarding Nat Knight-Percival's future will affect the defender's performances.

Knight-Percival has been offered a new contract by Wrexham but has so far not revealed where his future lies.

That has led to speculation with Peterborough director of football Barry Fry saying the 25-year-old will join them on a free transfer in July.

"I don't think it will affect him," Morrell said of the speculation.

"He's a fantastic pro and he's put his body on the line many, many times this year for this club," said Morrell

"I think he will continue to do so until the end of the season and then we'll see what happens at the end of the season."

Morrell says it is inevitable Wrexham's push for promotion has led to players being linked with moves to other clubs.

Defender Mark Creighton, goalkeeper Joslain Mayebi and midfielder Jay Harris have signed new contracts with Wrexham while the player-boss has also agreed a new deal.

But Morrell is aware players like Knight-Percival, nearing the end of their contracts, will be targeted by other clubs.

"You're always going to get it [speculation] when you're doing well," said Morrell. "Teams are going to come and try and take your players off you.

"We've managed to get a few signed on and few a talking longer than we'd like but that's just the way it is."

Wrexham are currently eight points behind Blue Square Bet Premier leaders Fleetwood Town, who they travel to face on Tuesday.

Before that on Good Friday they host Alfreton Town, a side who won six of their eight league games during March.

With Fleetwood away to York City on Saturday, Morrell says victory against Alfreton will be vital to keep up the pressure on the league leaders.

"We've got to stay in the hunt and to do that we've probably got to win two [the] games," added Morrell.

"If we lose and Fleetwood win on Saturday [at York] then it's going to be even harder.

"We've got to do what we can do which is win our football matches.

"Firstly we've got to deal with Alfreton. [It's] a really tough game for us. They're going really well

"If we deal with that then we have to worry about the one on Tuesday after that."
