On-loan Wolves midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong was taken to hospital with an eye injury suffered during the 3-2 defeat by Aston Villa.
He was struck by the boot of Villa's Stiliyan Petrov's as he attempted a diving header.
Frimpong needed extensive treatment - eight minutes stoppage time was played - before he was carried off on a stretcher in the second half.
The 20-year-old is on loan from Arsenal until the end of the season.
"An initial examination revealed no head or spinal problems," read a statement on the Wolves website.
"However, he has a severe swelling around his eye and will need further examination to discover the extent of the problem."
Frimpong, who later returned to Molineux, added: "I can't remember too much about it to be honest.
"I remember heading the ball and, from what I heard, I then got a kick in the face. We'll just have to give it a couple of days and wait for it to settle down."
The midfielder, who played a key role in Wolves' first goal, had looked impressive in his third game for Mick McCarthy's side.
Frimpong had made 14 appearances for Arsenal this season - starting three Premier League matches, three Carling Cup ties and three Champions League games - .
